I just wanted to send a quick response and let you know that my daughter attended the canoeing and backpack Intercept program in August 2011 and was by far the most amazing thing she has done for herself and our family. Is life perfect at home? No... she's still a teenager, however, I have noticed HUGE changes in her and she still uses the tools that she learned at OB. I think it's an experience of a lifetime and will absolutely carry some impact on her throughout her life. Just the other day we were reading her journal that she wrote during her experience and I cried as I always cry when I talk about her experience. Truly amazing! For those of you who are thinking about sending your child.... It's a win/win!

It was a walk-through-time to read your article about your Mom's OUTWARD BOUND experience in 1972. I was among the first female instructors in those days. The summer your mom took her course, I was working a Teacher's Practicum out of the Marble base camp. This year, the organization is celebrating their 50th ANNIVERSARY - having run their first course in the U.S.A. in June, 1962. There are 2 "ANNIVERSARY" courses this summer that will begin on June 16th in honor of that first course, C-1. More special memories.

Thanks for the link to my site! I'm an Outward Bound alum! I did the Florida Keys trip on pulling boat 15 about 6 years ago. I highly highly recommend that trip. I had a blast and learned a ton.

P.S. I'd be happy to share my photos if the admin wants to e-mail me.

Hi, My name is Myra Sampson Reeves. I can recall my experience @hurricane Outward bound School as if it were just yesterday. I participate in the Outward bound school in the Summer of 1980. I had a terrific experience as i bonded with fifteen people who were from different states and we became a family for the duration of 21 days. I enjoyed my sailing lessons, rock climbing, solo, swimming, and running in the morning. The instructors were fantastic, and the seven day excursion on the water in the boat was truely a learning experience. I am very thankful that I was given the experience and will continue to support the schools in a positive and finiacial way. To the contributors and sponsors of the the hurricane Outward Bound school in 1980, Thank you for making a positive attitribut to an inner city girl from Philadelphia, Pa. Please keep in touch, with me@msampsonreeves@yahoo.com
